What We Believe

La Iglesia believes in the true and living God, the Creator and Lord of heaven and earth. We believe that there are three persons, of one substance, equal in power and eternity in the unity of the Godhead: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ is truly God and truly man, the Messiah, the only mediator between God and man. No other name under heaven by which men can be saved.

We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life in perfect obedience to the Father, and was crucified for our sins. He suffered, died and was buried and rose from the dead on the third day. As God and man, Jesus Christ ascended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father interceding for His own. With his coming and ministry, Jesus opened the fulfillment of God's kingdom.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who was sent by the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower every believer for ministry in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit dwells in us and it is our Helper, Teacher and Guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the Biblical gifts of the Spirit.

We believe that as human beings we are sinners by nature and by choice and we are under condemnation. Now we are accounted righteous before God only for the merit of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in whom we have salvation through faith and not by works.

We believe we have been born again by regeneration in the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in us producing faith, holiness, love and power.

We believe the Bible was inspired by God, it is inerrant, infallible and authoritative. We believe that the Holy Scriptures are our only rule of faith and practice.

We believe that the church was created by God to be a community of faithful worshipers, where the ordinances of Christ is practiced, and is governed by His law, spiritual gifts are practiced, there are privileges and discipline in His Word and the Holy Spirit. These are the means to proclaim the truth and establish the kingdom of God on earth.

We believe that Jesus Christ established two ordinances for the church: water baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe that water baptism is for those who have put their faith in Christ as their Lord and Savior. We believe that the Lord's Supper is for all believers. Through the Holy Spirit, the Lord's Supper nourishes our soul, reminds us of Christ's sacrifice for our sins, our fellowship with Christ, his second coming, and our obligation to persevere in faith and holiness to the end.

We believe in the second coming of Christ, which will be personal and visible and in order to consummate his kingdom.

We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment and eternal blessing to the children of God in heaven and eternal suffering in hell for those who rejected him.
